Vesc — Art was founded by Vescot Engineering Ltd. Its aim to support young photographers to start their careers providing them exhibition and networking opportunities as well as consultations on their progress. An exhibition is held every year, where the participants and the winner of the open call are exposed. This year's exhibition named Vol.04 showcases the artworks by six talented emerging photographers reflecting on the theme of this year’s open call which was Social Identity.

The chosen artworks reflect on the structure of identity and social roles. All of us are forced into social roles to which the freely chosen identities are added, in the end, the mix of these give the picture we show to the outside world about ourselves. These define the most important and at the same time the smallest decisions we make. Our identity becomes more and more chosen rather than given or learned, one can leave his country and break with his national identity starting a new life in a new home. Many times the confrontation of these identities is inevitable. The acceptance of ourselves, each other, and our surroundings are often challenging but the tension emerging from this can create the most exciting human stories.
